UGA students and staff known to be traveling in Paris today are accounted for & are SAFE. A group of UGA students on a study abroad program were on personal travel, and one staff member is registered as traveling in Paris. Six students were at the Louvre when the incident took place, and were escorted to a safe area until the museum was cleared by officials.

To maximize student safety abroad, the Office of International Education offers information sessions to all students specifically about safety abroad, and hosts pre-departure workshops on safety for each UGA program, as well as for outgoing exchange students and students on non-UGA programs. Students and faculty receive emergency protocol/contact cards to carry with them, and with UGA’s use of Terra Dotta software, we are able to search within a given radius of any location on the planet to find every registered student, staff and faculty member — and contact information for them — who might be close to an area in crisis.
